Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Yolanda Baez arrived at the facility to conduct a pre-licensing inspection. LPA met with Applicant, Janet Andrade and Director, Brandy Lee Pearce. This Infant program operates in the following classrooms: Classroom #1. The hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm. This center is located within a shopping center, across from the Coin Laundry store.

Classroom #1 was inspected and measured during this inspection and measured the following:
Classroom #1: Infant Class (ages 2 to 24 months of age):
  • measured 732.88 square feet.
  • Total indoor square footage is sufficient to accommodate 20 infants at one time, Applicant agreed to license for 20 infants and provided an update to the LIC200A.

There is a separate sleeping area (is equipped with 9 cribs) in classroom #1 that is physically separate from the activity area by the use of a sound absorbing partition that is at least 4 feet in height. The sleeping area is not included in the indoor square footage calculation. Classroom #1 is equipped with a refrigerator, age appropriate equipment, furniture, cribs, cubbies, supplies, and materials. There are two changing tables in classroom #1 and both are within arm's reach of a sink. There is a separate sink that is used for sanitizing and washing bottles and food preparation. There are a total of 3 sinks available in classroom #1. The ratio is classroom #1 will be 1:4 infants. The center will be providing breakfast, lunch, and snacks and the menus are posted. All of the required documents are posted. The center will be providing hand written sign in and sign out. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector, smoke alarm, and a fire extinguisher. The first aid kit is kept in the Director's office and consists of all required supplies. The Director's office will be used for the isolation area for an ill child. There is a separate restroom for staff that is located in the hallway (near the kitchen area), it is equipped with one toilet and one sink, and it will be used for any child who is ill and is kept inaccessible.

The kitchen area currently consists of 2 refrigerators, one sink, one trash can with a lid, food supply, storage, one stove, one dishwasher, cooking equipment, and 3 tray carts.

The Infant Play Yard is equipped with canopies used for shade, turf grass for cushioning material, a sand box and age appropriate toys. The Infant Play Yard measured 2,067.76 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 27 children at one time which is sufficient to accommodate the new requested capacity of 20 infants. Drinking water is readily available outdoors via water fountain. Proper supervision and placement of staff on the play yard was advised to ensure the safety of children at all times. Applicant understands that the Infants, Preschoolers, and 12 additional school age children cannot co- mingle at any time, indoors or outdoors.

This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services – IMS and has submitted a Plan of Operation. A fire clearance for 24 infants was granted on 01/16/2020 but Applicant agreed to license for 20 infants due to insufficient indoor square footage.

A license will be issued upon final review.
