On 07/01/2021 at 10:00am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Samantha Salunga conducted a Pre-Licensing inspection. LPA met with Owner/Applicant, Mahzad (Mazi) Irani and the designated Site Director, Adriana (Rivera) Rutherford. The Preschool Program will operate in the following classrooms: Sprouts, Sprout B, Roots A, Roots B, Stems and Buds. The Toddler Program will operate in the Seedlings classroom. Fire clearance was granted on 06/22/2021. All indoor and outdoor activity space was measured today as follows:
· Seedlings (Toddler Room)- 461.14 sq. ft.
· Sprouts- 539.01 sq. ft.
· Sprouts B- 494.76 sq. ft.
· Roots A- 550.24 sq. ft.
· Roots B- 570.95 sq. ft.
· Stems- 545.62 sq. ft.
· Buds- 547.77 sq. ft.
The total indoor play space measured at approximately 3,709.49 sq. ft., which will accommodate a total of 105 children. The total preschool outdoor play space measured at approximately 4,012 sq. ft. which will accommodate a total of 53 children at one time. Toddler outdoor play area measured at approximately 750.6. sq. ft. which will accommodate a total of 10 children at one time. Toddler play areas indoors and outdoors are physically separate from the preschool areas. However, there is a fence and chick coop that is dividing the preschool and toddler outdoor play area. The side that the chicken coop is on is a little over one foot. LPA requested that an extension be placed so that it aligns with the 2.10 ft rot iron fence that takes up half of the separation. LPA observed all indoor play space to be complete with age-appropriate furniture and equipment, including tables, chairs, napping cots, bookshelves, and other activity supplies for the children. There are a total of total of 6 toilets (sufficient for 90 children) and 13 sinks (sufficient for 195 children) available for the children. See 809C for continuation...

(PAGE 2 of 3) Children are to be escorted and supervised by staff to and from the bathroom and under direct visual observation. There is a staff restroom located near the front area of the building. The Director's office and staff restroom will be the isolation area for children who are ill. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector on site located in the bathroom between the Roots B, Buds and Stems classrooms. Sign-in area is located in the front entryway. Applicant was reminded to keep anything that reads, “Keep Out of Reach of Children” to be inaccessible to children. Applicant is reminded that any changes to the facility must be reported to and approved by Community Care Licensing. When LPA inspected the outdoor playground, LPA observed several trees and canopies used for shade. Area is fenced, has age appropriate play equipment, and sufficient turf/rubber matting for cushioning under the slides and climbing structures. Drinking water is readily accessible via water bottles and refillable water station.

This facility plans to provide Incidental Medical Services – IMS. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm

Child Care Providers can now sign up for Quarterly Updates and PINS through the DSS website. Please go to www.ccld.ca.gov and click on “Receive Important Updates,” then enter your email address and choose which program you would like to subscribe to and click subscribe. Due to computer malfunction, LPA typed up and read this report to Ms. Irani and Ms. Rivera via telephone after the inspection was concluded. Exit interview was conducted. The maximum capacity that the facility can be licensed for is 90 children due to having only 6 toilets available for children. Once corrections have been made and submitted, a preschool license for 90 children (ages 18 months to Kindergarten) may be granted upon final file review. This report will be emailed to Ms. Irani and shall be kept available at the facility for public review for 3 years.
