25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jo Ann Legaspi made an unannounced inspection to the facility to conduct to ensure compliance with the rules and regulations of California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12. The facility serves thirty-four (34) children ages six (6) weeks to two (2) years old in Rooms #1, #2 and #3. Assistant Director (AD) Leticia Kuri accompanied LPA during a conducted general overall inspection of the facility’s interior and exterior.
There were five (5) infants classroom #1, supervised by two (2) teachers. There were four (4) toddlers in classroom #2, supervised by one (1) teacher. Neither children nor staff were in classroom #3. LPA observed appropriate care and visual supervision of children during the visit. Children were observed engaged in indoor activities.
Indoor and outside activity spaces are separate from areas used by older children. Exterior and interior passageways are obstruction free. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. The last safety drill was on 10/09/2019. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions and poisons are inaccessible to children. There are no bodies of water on the facility. Per AD Kuri, there are no weapons and/or ammunition housed in the facility.
Medications are in a locked area, which are inaccessible to children. AD Kuri stated no children are currently administered specialized medications. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual – Regulation Interpretation and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department.
