25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Samantha Salunga and Leilani Curtis visited the facility to conduct an annual random inspection. Upon arrival LPA's met with Rita Schwartz, Coordinator, Early Childhood Education for La Mesa Spring Valley School District, and proceeded to tour the facility. There are no children present. Ms. Schwartz states that due to low enrollment for the preschool program, facility closed their operation effective October 23, 2018. The normal school year is from August 9, 2018-June 14, 2019. LPA's continued to tour the facility to ensure an environment safe for children for the next school year. Furniture and equipment inside and outside of facility is in good condition; free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Drinking water is readily accessible at all times. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other hazardous items are inaccessible to children via latches, locks and/or placed up on high surfaces. No body of water was observed during time of inspection. No firearms or weapons are present at the facility. All toilets and hand washing facilities are in good repair and sanitary. Outdoor play area is fully fenced and contains sufficient amount of cushioning with rubber matting to absorb a fall. No records were reviewed due to no staff/children being present and that the school has been inoperable since 10/23/2018.
At conclusion of visit, Ms. Schwartz provided LPA's with a completed LIC9211 (Request for Inactive Child Care License Status), requesting the license be placed on inactive due to not operating. Ms. Schwartz requested that the license be inactive from 05/10/2019-07/31/2019. Ms. Schwartz states that the new school year will resume on 08/12/2019. In addition to the inactive request, Ms. Schwartz requested a room change to the license. Facility is licensed in Room #1 and #2. Ms. Schwartz requested that Room #2 be removed. LPA's remeasured Room #1 during time of inspection and room measured a total of 845.18 sq. ft. which is sufficient for 24 children. There is no capacity change. Ms. Schwartz provided LPA's with a completed LIC200A reflecting the room change.
