25 | LPA, Luigi Gargaro, conducted a case management visit at the facility today for a room change for the preschool from room 101 to room 700. Analyst met with school's director of preschool and child care services, Lisa Alonso. No class was in session today as the school year is scheduled to start on 10/05/20 and analyst followed guidance provided in Regional Office Memo 20-14-CCLD for protective Covid-19 practices during today's visit. The facility's hours of operation are from Monday-Friday from 8:15AM to 3:05PM. The requested capacity for room 700 is to remain at 24 as it was for room 101, for children ages 3 to 5 years.
Room 700 was inspected and measured today at 994.42 square feet which would allow for a maximum capacity of 28 children. The classroom has two separate bathrooms which have a toilet and sink in the each. The classroom contains two sinks that have drinking fountains. The classroom was found to have age appropriate toys and furnishings during today's inspection. A fire clearance for the room for 24 was granted by the Coronado Fire Department from an inspection conducted on 08/31/20.
The new preschool room also has it's own playground that analyst measured and inspected today. The playground area which is immediately behind the classroom was measured today at a total of 2,818.73 square feet which may accommodate up to a total of 37 children. The yard was formerly part of the co-located elementary school program but is now solely dedicated to the preschool program. The playground equipment, therefore, is currently not age appropriate for preschool age children and will not be allowed for their use. Director is planning to make the two structures in the yard inaccessible to children in care by installing snap tied plastic safety fencing at the accessible entrances and climbing steps of the slide structure and the climbing step to the monkey bar structure.
As the barricading of the structure entrances has not been completed yet, the play yard will currently be considered off limits. Director has until 10/12/20 within which to install the barricading fencing and send analyst photos to show that it has been completed so that the yard may begin to be used at that time. |
