On 02/08/2021 at 2:00pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane conducted a virtual inspection with the director, Vanessa Garcia via FaceTime due to the COVID-19 state of emergency. The purpose of this inspection is to provide technical assistance and ensure the facility is safe for the care and supervision of children. There were 30 children and 5 staff members present during today’s inspection.

Due to the COVID-19 state of emergency, a waiver was granted on 02/05/2021 for the facility to care for 10 school age children (age 5 - 12 years) in the Activity Room, not to exceed the current licensed capacity of 54 children. This waiver expires 05/05/2021.

A fire clearance for 10 school age children (age 5 - 12 years) to utilize the Activity Room was granted on 02/04/2021.

Check-in will take place at the north side of the facility at the double playground gate. Children will be signed in and out by their authorized representative at the time of drop off and pick up. Parents and visitors are not entering the facility at this time. Postings regarding COVID-19 are posted near the check in and check out area. The director’s office will be utilized as the isolation area and the staff restroom located in the lobby of the facility will be utilized as the isolation restroom. Children’s authorized representative will be contacted immediately for pick up, if a child becomes ill. Department of Public Health and Community Care Licensing will be contacted regarding any COVID-19 illness.

Children will stay with the same group as assigned and will not be moved from one group to another. No more than 16 individuals in a cohort and groups must be kept physically separated. Age appropriate furniture including tables and chairs are present in the Activity Room to meet the needs of children in care. Men’s and women’s restrooms are located across the hallway from the Activity Room and are for the exclusive use of school age children.

The director will send a plan of operation for the outdoor activity area which is located across the street on the west side of the building. The outdoor activity area includes age appropriate equipment and activities. Shade is provided by a canopy and a tree.

Drinking water is readily available through the use of filtered water in water jugs and children bring refillable water bottles from home. The facility will maintain child files that include emergency authorization and staff files that include proof of criminal background clearance. All childcare areas, including the outdoor activity area, will be cleaned and sanitized daily or more often as necessary following the facility’s cleaning and sanitation policies.

A health check for staff and children will be conducted each day upon arrival. LPA discussed the terms and conditions of the waiver and facility will ensure compliance with all terms and conditions of the Temporary Waiver and will adhere to Public Health guidelines and directives.

To further ensure the health and safety of the children in care, Community Care Licensing will provide on-going Technical Assistance (TA) to the facility.

An exit interview was conducted. A copy of this report (LIC809) will be emailed to the director and the director was advised that acknowledgement of receipt of the report is to be received within twenty-four hours.
