On 5/24/24, LPA Patrick Ma made an unannounced complaint visit for the complaint received on 4/19/24 for the purpose of continuing the investigation and delivering findings on the above reference allegations. LPA met with Director, Lindsay Sweet. LPA conducted staff interviews and observed classrooms.

Based on the information obtained during interviews, observations, and documentation reviewed it is determined that there is insufficient evidence to show inappropriate discipline was used on children. During classroom observations on 4/26/24, 5/14/24, and 5/24/24, staff was observed using appropriate redirection and guidance techniques with children by using friendly tones, comfort the child, encourage, and redirected to activity, and talked with them at their level. During nap time, blankets were observed at the neck or below. Investigation interviews determined staff may cover children’s whole body at nap when they are sleeping on their stomachs and facing to the side but uncovered once they fall asleep.

Also, interviews conducted provided insufficient evidence children are physically disciplined, food is withheld as a form of discipline, or terms such as “pow-pow” were used at the facility as threats. LPA advised Director to avoid placing blankets over children’s heads for nap.

Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, therefore the above allegation is found to be Unsubstantiated.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director Lindsay Sweet. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
