25 | On 2/10/2023 at 10:44AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Jeanette Sanchez and James Wilkerson, conducted a Case Management visit in response to information received from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Division of Drinking Water (DDW). LPAs met with Director Aunica DeFalco, who was informed of the reason for the visit.
Assembly Bill 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their drinking and cooking water for lead contamination between January 1, 2020 and January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first lead testing. LPAs observed on the report provided by the SWRCB the faucets C, H, and I were identified as having high levels of lead - 19ppb, 38ppb and 21ppb, respectively.
The faucet is located in the school's Classroom 3/Twos (C) and Classroom 6/Pre-K (H and I). Director Aunica DeFalco, told LPAs that the faucet was immediately turned off and placed out of service. The faucet has been replaced as of 1/3/2023.
Interviews with staff revealed that sinks/faucets have not been used since they tested high for lead. Classroom 6 is currently not in use. Actual date it was last used is unknown but said to be at least as of June 2022.
See LIC 809D for cited deficiency in accordance with the California Code of Regulations Title 22, Division 12 written directives.
An exit interview was conducted with Director Aunica DeFalco. A copy of this report, appeal rights and a Notice of Site Visit was issued. |
