25 | Licensing Program Analysts, Joelle Redding and Chanell Farnese made an unannounced visit for the purpose of the completion of a random annual visit, initiated on 6/27/19. During this visit there were 33 children present with 5 teachers, Director and the Assistant Director as follows: Five children with one teacher in the playroom; 11 children with one teacher in the music room, 9 children with one teacher on the playground, 8 children with two teachers in the art room. The children rotate from room to room for different activities. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
LPAs toured the facility, the furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. The facility provides morning and afternoon snack and the children bring their own lunches. There is a kitchen which is clean and sanitary with all snack food stored properly, per regulation. Snack menus are posted. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and in operating condition. Medications are kept the kitchen, inaccessible to children. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play area is fully fenced with sufficient cushioning and adequate shade. There is an operational water fountain available. No hazards were noted. The carbon monoxide detector is operational (outside restroom and kitchen). LPA reviewed sign in/out sheets, and a sample of children's records for emergency information and a medical assessment. There is at least one staff present with current CPR and First Aid certification. Isolation area is the Director's office. Staff Immunization (SB 792) and Mandated Reporter Training (AB !207) requirement have been met. The facility is reminded that Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com. Effects of Lead Exposure Handout was provided for dissemination to the parents of currently enrolled children as well as future enrollees. |
