25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Tyra Block, conducted an unannounced annual inspection with the facillty representatives. Upon arrival LPA met with Jackie Clegg and was introduced to Christine Alderman as the facility was toured and census taken. Present were 64 children and 21 staff (Rm1-3:13, Rm2- 2:12, Rm5- 2:17, Rm6-2:11, Rm7-2:11). The facility was within ratio and capacity. All staff had criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions and were associated to the facility. The center was toured and inspected to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children. The fire extinguisher (inspected 1/13/22), carbon monoxide detector (located in rooms 1/2 and 6/7), and smoke detector/ fire alarm meet requirements and are operational. All hazardous items were latched/locked and secured out of reach of children. There are no bodies of water present. Director states that there are no weapons on the premises. At least one staff that opens and closes has First Aid and CPR certification. Staff and children records were reviewed and found to be in order. A fire drill/ earthquake drill is practiced and logged at least every 6 months, the last date drills were conducted were 3/8/22 and 4/18/22. Mandated reporter certifications were current and on file. A current roster is maintained and provided to LPA. All toilets and water faucets are in working order. Outdoor playground was observed to have cushioning around climbing structures.
Children were observed to be under visual supervision. The classroom and restrooms have adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation. All floors appeared to be safe and clean. Furniture, children's cubbies, toys and napping equipment appeared to be in good condition. Trash cans have tight-fitting cover. Medication policies and procedures were reviewed. Snacks are provided during the morning and afternoon, menus are posted.. All food was inspected and protected from contamination. Sign in/out sheets were reviewed showing parent/guardian’s signature and time of day recorded. The kitchen and storage areas appeared to be clean. The surface of the outdoor activity space is maintained in a safe condition with sufficient shade. Drinking water is available inside the classrooms and outdoor play area. |
