25 | On August 1, 2023, at 10:00 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Luigi Gargaro, conducted an unannounced annual required inspection and met with the licensees, Rosa and Fausto Rivas. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensees. Seven (7) children and the co-licensees were present in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a two floor, four bedroom, three bathroom house. Licensees accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The following areas used for child care are: bedroom #2 in the upper level of the home and the two day care rooms and bathroom #3 located in the lower portion of the home. Off limits areas are the kitchen, dining area, the living room, laundry room and bedrooms #1, #3 and #4 and the two other home bathrooms located in two of the off limits bedrooms located in the upper level of the home. The kitchen, dining area, living room and laundry room are made off limits with a child safety gate that is in use at the hallway/living room entry way whenever children are using the upper floor bedroom. The off limits bedrooms are made inaccessible with the use of door knob covers installed on their respective door knobs. The licensees have safety gates for the top and bottom of the home staircase.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. All hazardous items were inaccessible to children. The licensees have toys, play equipment and materials available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities. No bodies of water observed on the premises during the inspection. Licensees stated there are no weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions.
Since the last inspection, the licensees have added an ADU (Additional Dwelling Unit) that is located in the back yard of their home. The home is separately addressed as 5505 Blueridge Street and during today's visit the licensees showed analyst the final inspection approval for the ADU by the City of San Diego. The licensees' cleared and associated adult daughter, Anna Cota, lives in the home. The ADU is not a part of the day care and is locked and off limits to it. Licensees state they will send in an updated facility sketch within 30 days that reflects the on property ADU and all off limits and for use rooms in the facility. |
