25 | On 11/18/2022 at 8:50AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samantha Clenista conducted an unannounced random inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with the Licensee, Monica Meddings. LPA observed a total of 9 children (3 who are infants). Also present was Licensee's two helpers, Veronica Sanchez and Brenda Ibanez. The home was toured and inspected to ensure an environment safe for the care and supervision of children. The children were observed playing outside in the backyard, appropriately supervised.
Licensee has provided adequate space for the children to eat, sleep and play within the home. Areas used for child care include the following areas: living room, dining room, hallway bathroom, enclosed patio, and enclosed front porch. The fireplace located in the living room has a glass door inaccessible to children. Off limit areas include all bedrooms, kitchen, laundry room, garage, 2nd bathroom, car port, and upper level of the backyard. Off limits areas have been made inaccessible with the use of safety gates and/or door knob covers. The facility has sufficient toys and equipment available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities.
The home has a fully charged fire extinguisher, smoke and carbon monoxide detector that meet requirements and are operational. All hazardous items were latched/locked and secured out of reach of children. Licensee stated that there are no bodies of water or weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances. Licensee's EMSA approved First Aid and CPR certifications are valid through 03/2023. Licensee has completed the online mandated child abuse training on 09/22/2022 and was advised that it must be renew every two years. All five of the children records were reviewed. Facility has an updated roster and fire/disaster drill log available for review. Licensee last conducted a drill was an earthquake drill on 09/16/2022. A copy of the facility roster was obtained during today’s inspection. Licensee immunization requirements per SB792 were met. |
