25 | On April 23, 2023, at 12:50 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Gloria Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with the Licensee, Arlene Saucedo. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. Six (6) daycare children and one (1) staff member were present in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a 2 story, 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house. Licensee accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The following areas used for child care are: living room, family room, kitchen, dining room, downstairs bathroom, and bakyard. Off limits areas are entire upstairs (4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms), downstairs bedroom, and garage, and are inaccessible through use of a safety gate, door locks, and door knob covers. Hours of operation are: Monday-Friday from 6:00 am-5:30 pm.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were made inaccessible to children during the inspection. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities at time of inspection. The upstairs is not used and is gated off at the bottom of the stairway and the Licensee understands the gate must be in place when children under five years are present during day care hours. All pools, spas, hot tubs, fish ponds, or similar bodies of water are made inaccessible to children by a wrought iron fence, with self-latching, self-closing gate that swings away from the pool and meets Title 22 requirements. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. |
