25 | On February 3, 2022 at 7:55 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jo Ann Legaspi conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with Licensee Shukri Farah. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. No children were in care during this inspection. This facility is a two (2) story, three (3) bedroom, three (3) bathroom apartment located within a locked apartment complex. Licensee accompanied LPA during this inspection. The following areas used for childcare are: the kitchen, dining area, living room and the one downstairs bathroom. The off limits areas are the top floor; its stairs are barricaded with child safety gates. Lower kitchen cabinets were observed not to contain hazardous items.
The fire extinguisher and smoke/carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were observed inaccessible to children during this inspection. The Licensee has available toys, play equipment and materials. Licensee states children are taken to the apartment complex park and a nearby neighborhood park for outdoor activities. Licensee was reminded that continuous supervision is to be given to children whenever engaged in outdoor activities. No bodies of water were observed on the premises during the inspection. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. Licensee has required immunizations. Licensee completed Mandated Reporter Training on 02/20/2020. The facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 01/09/2022.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
