25 | On May 18, 2023, at 10:50 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Gloria Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Annual Required Inspection and met with the Licensee, Barbara Magana. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. Four (4) daycare children and no staff member was present in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a one story, 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house. The following areas used for childcare are: kitchen, daycare area (next to dining room), dining room, bathroom, and living room. Off limits areas are room #1 and #2, front yard, back patio and backyard and are inaccessible through use of door locks and door knob covers. Facility hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were made inaccessible to children during the inspection. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available. The backyard is off limits. Licensee states she takes the children to a nearby park for outdoor play. No bodies of water observed on the premises during the inspection. At 11:20 am, LPA observed firearms and ammunition to be separate in a locked storage area. LPA observed ammunition was not locked. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Licensee’s First Aid and CPR certification expires on 1/2025. Licensee has required immunizations. Licensee completed Mandated Reporter Training on 4/6/21 and has expired. Facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 1/17/23. |
