25 | On 9/20/21 @ 12:32PM, LPA Nancy Diaz conducted an unannounced inspection. LPA met with Tonya Moran, licensee. Helper Katie Oconnor was also present today. Observed present today were 6 children. There were 3 children napping in the daycare room and 3 children (2 under the age of 2) were napping in 3 separate bedrooms. A tour of the home was conducted. The following areas are accessible to children: daycare room, hallway bathroom, 3 bedrooms and outside play area. Off-limit areas are: kitchen, living room, garage and second floor. Facility operates Monday-Friday; 6:50AM to 5:30PM. The licensee was present in the home to ensure that all children are supervised at all times. Facility is within capacity and did not exceed the capacity specified on the license.
A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions.
There is a pool located in the yard that is fenced as specified by regulation and is inaccessible to children. Licensee do no maintain any weapons in the home.
Detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other items which could pose a danger to children are stored appropriately and inaccessible to children.
Fire extinguisher and smoke detectors meet State Fire Marshall standards. The carbon monoxide detector present in the home meet the standards established in Chapter 8 of Part 2, Division 12. Home is kept clean and orderly with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. A barricade was observed between the daycare room and hallway to make the stairs inaccessible to children. Licensee provide safe toys, play equipment and materials. The home maintains a working telephone service.
