25 | On 04/07/21 at 12:30 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Rajani Goudreau conducted an unannounced case management – licensee initiated, capacity increase virtual tele-visit. Upon visit, LPA met the with licensee, Lanasha Herriott and proceeded to virtually tour the home and outdoor play area to ensure compliance with standards established in CCR, Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3. During the inspection, there were four children, including one infant in care at the time of the visit. The facility is within ratio/capacity limitations. Facility operates Monday through Sunday, 24-hours.
All cleaning compounds, detergents, medications and other items which could pose a danger to children are stored where they are inaccessible to children and poisons are to be locked away. The fire extinguisher, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors meet requirements and are operational. LPA observed required postings posted. Children’s toys and play equipment are safe and age appropriate. There are no bodies of water observed by LPA during the inspection. Children will utilize the backyard for outdoor play. LPA observed a waterless water fountain in the backyard filled with rocks. LPA informed the licensee to ensure children are supervised at all times during outdoor activities. There are no firearms or other weapons in the home, per licensee. Stairs leading to the second story of the home are securely gated, per LPA observation. Primary telephone is a cell phone which is operational. Pediatric CPR and First-Aid certificate are valid through 02/2023. There are no new adults living or working in the home. A review of clearances on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Licensee rents the facility and has provided proof of control of property by a rental agreement, landlord notification is on file. LPA informed license the landlord consent, LIC9149 will need to be obtained, if caring for more than 12 children. Licensee acknowledges understanding of the requirement. Licensee has provided verification of meeting the immunization requirement, per SB792 and the completion of the AB1207 Mandated Reporter Training conducted on 03/23/21. Licensee has more than one year of experience as a regulated small family child care home operator. Facility self-certification checklist and the COVID-19 Assessment are on file.
