25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Vicky Williamson conducted an unannounced case management inspection for the purpose of an increase in capacity. A fire clearance for a capacity of 14 children was granted on 2/3/20. Met with Licensee, Taheria Melvin. Also present were licensee's 3 minor children. There were no daycare children present during today's inspection. Licensee states that the facility is closed today due to repairs being completed. Licensee stated that there are no new adults living or working in the home over the age of 18 years. A review of staff records on 2/26/20 indicates that licensee and adult residents in the home have criminal record clearances and/or exemptions on file. CPR and First Aid certifications expire on 12/2021.
This single level, four bedrooms, two bath home was toured and inspected. Licensee will will use the following areas for child care: living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom 1, bathroom 1, bedroom 2 and front yard (entrance only). Off limits areas include: garage, bedroom 3, bedroom 4, swimming pool, patio and entire backyard. They are made inaccessible to day care children through the use of door locks and a safety gate. Licensee will utilize Sweetwater Park for outdoor activities. Licensee is reminded to maintain visual supervision of children at all times. The fireplace is screened. The home has an inground pool that is surrounded by a mesh fence, with a self-latching key lock, self-closing gate that swings away from the pool and meets Title 22 requirements. The fire extinguisher is rated 3A;40B:C and is located in the kitchen, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors meet requirements and are operational. All poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, and medicines were made inaccessible to children in care and located in off limit areas with latches and door locks and secured out of reach of children. Adequate heating and ventilation are provided for the children. Children’s toys and play equipment are available. The applicant has a working telephone and cell phone. The last disaster drill was conducted and documented on 1/23/20. |
