25 | On November 9, 2021 at 10:00AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Luigi Gargaro, conducted an unannounced annual required inspection and met with the co-licensee, Ardo Shire. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the licensee. One (1) child and co-licensee Shire were present in the facility during this inspection. Her co-licensee daughter, Raqiya Abdille, was not present during the visit. Co-licensee Shire speaks limited English but understood all questions analyst had for her. However, when it came to reviewing the report, analyst used translation service Language Link to assist him with reviewing it with Ms. Shire.
Licensee states she currently has ten, mostly school age children, enrolled in her day care This facility is a one story, three bedroom, two bathroom home. Licensee accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The following areas used for child care are: the kitchen, the living/dining room area and the two home bathrooms. Off limits areas are the three home bedrooms and are inaccessible through use of door knob covers that are installed on the handles of their respective entry doors. The home also has a laundry room that is immediately off the kitchen. While the laundry room has open entry, when it was inspected today, there were no accessible chemicals as all laundry products are kept on a high shelf above the machines.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. All hazardous items were inaccessible to children. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities. The backyard contains a separate one room living structure that the licensee states belongs to the landlord that is not occupied by anyone and has a locked entry that only the landlord has the key for. When analyst tested the door handle he indeed found it locked and when he looked inside the window, witnessed that it was completely empty of furniture or any other personal belongings. The yard also contains an empty shed that is secured with a wire tie making it inaccessible to children in care. There is finally a wooden boarded up bar structure that has any entryways sealed off making it inaccessible to children playing in the yard. |
