On 1/20/21 at 2:10PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Nancy Diaz conducted an unannounced case management inspection. This inspection was conducted virtually via Face Time due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. LPA met with Site Director Karin Turner. LPA observed 44 children in the following classrooms:
- Polar Bears 1 with 5 children and staff Glen Vergne
- Polar Bears 2 with 7 children and staff Joleen Dooley
- Honey Bears with 8 children and staff Amber Georgi
- Panda Bears with 7 children and staff Cynthia Salas
- Brown Bears with 11 children and staff Jessica Lucenti & Jennifer Smith
- Baby Bears with 6 children and staff Rosa Cahil, Emery Churchill & Hailee Bodkte.

LPA discussed the following with Director: cohort, group size and ratios indicated on the CDSS PINS 20-22-CCP (updated on September 4, 2020) and Guidance related to cohorts-updated September 4, 2020 by the California Department of Public Health. Per Public health a cohort is a stable group of no more than 14 children or youth with no more than 2 supervising adults (or a configuration of no more than 16 individuals total in the cohort) in a supervised environment in which supervising adults and children stay together for all activities and avoid contact with people outside of their group in the setting. Considerations for staff- supervising adults should be assigned to one cohort and must work solely with that cohort, unless serving children five years of age and younger in which case an adult may be assigned to no more than 2 cohorts.
Staff members were observed wearing masks during the tour and appropriate cohorts were maintained.
An exit interview was conducted with Karin Turner. A Notice of Site Visit (LIC9213) and Appeal Rights (LIC9058) will be sent along with the report (LIC809) via e-mail. Ms. Turner will confirm receipt of these reports via e-mail and the reply of confirmation will serve as the signature acknowledging these rights. Notice of Site Visit (LIC9213) must remain posted for 30 days.
