25 | Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection. There were 42 kindergarten children present upon arrival as follows: Site Director and an Aide with 21 children in Room 11 and 21 children with two teachers in Room 12. The elementary school gets out at 2:30 p.m. and an additional teacher arrives. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday until 6:25 p.m. primarily in Room 11 and 12 with Room 10 as a backup.
LPA toured the rooms. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. Medications are kept in room 12, inaccessible to children. School bathrooms are used and are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Supervision is in place at all times. Snacks are provided. Food service is clean and sanitary. Snack menus were posted and are being stored for a minimum of 30 days. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. The outdoor play area is fenced and has enough cushioning under and around play structures, swings and slides. The play structure is used occasionally by the 3rd through 5th graders only. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. There is at least one staff present with a current CPR and First Aid certification. Sign in/out sheets were reviewed. LPA observed appropriate supervision in and out of the classroom. A sample of children's records were reviewed for admission’s agreements and staff records for qualifications. SB 792 (staff immunizations) have beebn met. AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) were discussed. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com. Isolation area is the Director's office.
