25 | On 08/12/2024 at 11:15am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Selina Siao conducted a case management capacity increase inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Rachel Tamayo, Director of After-school Programs and April Smith, Area Manager. Facility is currently licensed to care for 110 school age children in classrooms 1, 6, 13, 10, 15, 103 and the multipurpose room (Elementary Bldg) and Room D1 (Middle School Bldg). Facility representative has request to increase the license capacity to 140 children that are attending UTK through 5th grade by using classrooms 10, 13, 15 and the MPR. Facility is exempt from indoor and outdoor square footage per Title 22, sections 101538.2(c) and 101538.3(c). The fire clearance was approved on 08/02/2024.
The school is currently on summer break and will resume on 08/21/2024. Food preparation for snacks is in classroom #15. There is an operational carbon monoxide detector in room #15 located next to the fire extinguisher. Cleaning supplies and other toxic items are inaccessible to children through latches, locks and/or placed on a high cabinet. Check in area for the kindergarten children is currently at the Kindergarten playground gate area and for the older children the check in area is outside of room #13 by the planter. Check out area is by the gate located next to room #15.
The children uses elementary playground, black top basketball area and the play structure which appears to be age-appropriate for school age children. Facility representative stated that the facility do not use the monkey bar. Facility representative stated that they are in the process of obtaining permission from the principal to use the kindergarten playground. Both playgrounds has rubber cushioning, and the kindergarten play structure has an attached large umbrella shade. There are shade available throughout the campus and filtered water bottle filling station by the restroom between room #12 and #13. Facility representative was reminded to keep anything that reads, “Keep Out of Reach of Children” inaccessible to children.
