25 | Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection. During this visit there were 56 children with five staff as follows: 37 children outside with two teachers and an Aide, 8 children inside with a teacher and 11 children on the field with Acting Director. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday 7 a.m. to 10 and 11:30 to 6:25 p.m. This program operates in Rooms 3 and 4. Today LPA inspected and approved Room 34 for use to replace Room 2. LPA advises to ensure the room is free of hazards prior to use as the elementary school does used this room during the day. The request for the room change was received on 10/10/19 and the fire clearance was received on 10/31/19. An updated license will be mailed.
LPA toured the rooms. The furniture, books and games are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. Medications, when present, are stored in Room 4, inaccessible to children. Bathrooms and handwashing areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition and are inspected by staff prior to use. Supervision is in place at all times. The program provides afternoon snack. Food is stored in Room 4. Menus were posted and are being stored for a minimum of 30 days. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. The outdoor play area is fenced and has enough cushioning under and around play structures, swings and slides. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. Several staff present have a current CPR and First Aid certification. Sign in/out sheets were reviewed. LPA observed appropriate supervision in and out of the classroom. A sample of children's records were reviewed for admission’s agreements and staff records for qualifications. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com. Isolation area is the Director's office.
