25 | On 8/20/2020 @ 12:00 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, made an announced visit (due to Covid-19 restrictions) to evaluate Rooms #1 and #2 and additional playground space. Facility applied for an increase in capacity from 41 children to 89 children, ages two thru kindergarten on 8/3/2020. Fire clearance was completed on 8/13/2020.
During today's visit, LPA inspected and measured Rooms #1 and #2. Measured capacity, including encumbered space, is 1113.30 sq. ft., per room, suitable for an additional 31 children in each room. This exceeds the capacity request of an additional 48 children. There are a total of four toilets, and eight sinks between the four rooms. At licensure, the facility was allowed to use the elementary school bathrooms which provides for six additional toilets and 10 additional sinks This is more than sufficient for the total new capacity of 89 children. Previous capacity of preschool rooms #3 and 4 is 1441 sq. ft. The additional classrooms will increase the total capacity to 3667.60 sq. ft., suitable for up to 104 children, total.
The additional outdoor space consists of a large grassy area, concrete area with awning and tables and a play structure for children ages 5 thru 12. The space was not measured today as it is visibly more than sufficient to accommodate the requested increase. This space will be combined with the existing playground space which has a measured capacity is 3910 sq.ft for (52 children). No hazards were noted and the entire area is fenced. Direct supervision will be in place at all times. No children under the age of 5 will use the play structure in the new space. The facility will apply for a waiver to share this space with school age children on staggered schedule in anticipation of their return to on campus learning. Currently there will be no elementary school children on campus due to the Governor's orders for distance learning.
Upon file file review and approval of the shared playground space waiver, this increase in capacity will be granted and an update license sent for posting. |
