25 | Licensing Program Analysts, Joelle Redding and Brooke Sykora made an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection. During this visit there were 21 children with 4 fully qualified staff in Room B-24. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. It is not necessary to check in at the office as the preschool has a separate entrance than the elementary, just past the office.
LPAs toured the room. All required forms were posted. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Room was a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. Medications are kept in a box in the room, inaccessible to children. Bathrooms and handwashing areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Children bring their own morning snack. They have the option to bring their own lunches or buy from the elementary school cafeteria. Afternoon snack is provided by the program and stored in the classroom. Snack and lunch menus were posted and are being stored for a minimum of 30 days. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. The outdoor play area is fenced and has enough cushioning under and around play structures. There is some disrepair in the cushioning for which a work order has been made. Supervision is in place to ensure these areas aren't hazardous to children. A waiver is in place to share the playground with the kindergarten at staggered times. Water bottles are brought outside. Director states that when she started, she requested that the play structure be altered to accommodate children ages 3 and up. LPA inspected the structure and there was no label present. In addition, there is no portable shade available outdoors. An awning that was in place broke and has not been replaced. Director states that when they are outside there are always portions of the playground that are shaded. LPA will contact the Preschool Director for confirmation and documentation. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. The carbon monoxide detector is operational (near the nap mats). All staff present have a current CPR and First Aid certification. Sign in/out sheets were reviewed. LPAs observed appropriate supervision in and out of the classroom. A sample of children's records were reviewed for admission’s agreements and staff records for qualifications. Staff are fingerprinted through |
