(2)LPA Armando Locano completed an un-announced annual site inspection today and an evaluation for an increase in capacity to the license, from 72 to 96 children, a new classroom has been added and Fire Marshal Clearance has been approved and received for the increase. This visit is being conducted to ensure the facility is maintaining the health and safety standards as required by Community Care Licensing (CCL) Regulations governing Child Care Centers. Met with Site Director Alicia Puentes, there were approximately 21 children present during the visit, as parents were arriving to pick up children during the visit. LPA toured the facility and reviewed, menus, sign in and out sheet, rest room areas, indoor space, classrooms and equipment to ensure compliance with CCL Regulations. Per tour of the classrooms, a variety of age-appropriate, toys, materials and equipment were available for children’s use. Storage areas were verified to be properly locked and inaccessible, waste baskets were properly covered and drinking water was available for children in classrooms. Outside playground areas were toured and verified to be properly fenced, with proper age appropriate equipment for children’s use and proper shade available. Children’s records and staff records were reviewed, LPA verified required forms were in order for children and current staff files. There were operational Type II 10ABC fire extinguishers and working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in the facility, CPR, First Aid and Mandated Reporter certificates were verified to be up to date for staff.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. The facility has submitted an IMS plan to licensing office, plan has been approved by licensing office and remains in place. LPA discussed new LEAD information regarding effects of lead exposure and verified copy of handout has been provided to the facility. Per new Senate Bill 792 pertaining to immunizations, which require all adults in daycare operation to have proof of immunizations for; Measles, Pertussis or Whooping Cough and Influenza or Flu, verification of required immunizations was provided for all staff.

There are no deficiencies cited on this visit, all documentation was in order, properly posted and the facility was found to be properly childproofed. LPA Locano reviewed new classroom added to the facility and verified, there is now an a new additional 1,246 square feet of classroom space and 2 new toilets and 4 new sinks have been added for children’s use and an additional 250 square feet of outdoor space. Based on the new additional square feet and additional toilets and sinks, there is ample space to allow the increase of capacity of the license to a new maximum capacity of 96 children. Outdoor play continues to be conducted in varying schedules per classroom, with no more than 24 children in outdoor playground at any given time, with proper adult supervision at all times. Increase in capacity to 96 children approved effective today June 5, 2019. LPA provided copy of LIC 9213, “Notice of Site Visit,” and observed posting of notice during visit.
