Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Yolanda Baez and Rajani Goudreau arrived at the facility to conduct a case management inspection that was initiated by Director, Melinda Lopez. Director initiated the inspection due to room changes and an increase to the capacity of the Toddler option that is attached to the Preschool component. LPAs met with Director, Melinda Lopez upon arrival.

Director notified the department of a proposed classroom addition for the toddler option to be changed from Room 2 to Room 3 and a capacity increase from 12 toddlers to 24 toddlers on August 16, 2019. In addition, to remove Room 2 from the preschool license. Fire clearance is on file and was granted on 10/17/2019. Overall capacity for the Preschool license may be changed to 273 children upon final review. Facility is requesting to utilize Room 3 for 24 toddlers. Room 3 was previously licensed for the Preschool component. LPA informed Director that two separate groups of 12 are to be maintained in the classroom and groups shall not be combined for activities exceeding 12 children in each group. Room 3 is separated by a bookshelf to be utilized by two different groups of toddlers, not to exceed 12 toddlers in each group. The total square footage for Room 3 is 653.43 square feet which is only sufficient for 18 children. LPA informed Director and an updated LIC200A must be submitted to request the new updated request for toddler component to be 18 toddlers. In addition, LPAs measured the toddler play area and the total measurement was 483.49 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 6 toddlers at one time. Director understands that a playground waiver must be submitted to allow groups of 6 toddlers out in the play yard at one time due to insufficient outdoor activity space. All Preschool and toddler option classrooms were re-measured during today's inspection and they measure the following:

The total indoor square footage calculation for the Preschool and toddler classrooms combined is 9,586.80 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 273 children at one time. LPA's discussed the change in current capacity and Director stated that she understands and agrees to license for 273 children. The outdoor activity space for all Preschool play yards measured 27,406.2 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 365 Preschool children at one time. LIC200A will also have to reflect the updated quantity for request of preschool children once the amount of 273 if confirmed and finalized.
