25 | Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, met with Director Alisa Wickham, for the purpose of an unannounced random annual inspection. There were 24 children present with four teachers in two rooms as follows: 11 napping children in Room 108 with two teachers and 13 napping children in Room 110 with two teachers. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 7:30 to 5:30pm.
LPA toured the facility. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. The facility provides a.m. and p.m. snack and children bring their own lunches. The snack menu is posted and copies are being stored for 30 days. Food is stored per regulation in the classroom. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Medications are kept centrally located, in the office,, inaccessible to children. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play area is fully fenced with sufficient cushioning and adequate shade. No hazards were noted. There is are operational water fountains outdoors. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. LPA reviewed, sign in/out sheets, a sample of personnel records for a health screening and a sample of children's records for emergency information and a medical assessment. There is at least one staff present with current CPR and First Aid certification. Isolation area is the Director's office. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. The facility is reminded that the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com. Effects of Lead Exposure handout was provided for dissemination to parents/guardians.
