25 | Licensing Program Analysts, Joelle Redding and Brooke Sykora, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection. During this visit there were 22 children with three teachers in Room A22 and 20 children with three teachers in Room E17. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 8:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. in Room A22 and 7 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. in Room E17.
LPAs toured the rooms. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Room was a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. Medications are kept in an emergency backpack, hung out of reach on the wall. Bathrooms and handwashing areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. There is a waiver in place to share the elementary bathroom in the "F" building. Morning snack is brought by the children in both rooms. They have the option of bringing lunch or purchasing it from the cafeteria. Afternoon snack is provided by the program for Room E17 and by the children in Room A22. Snacks are stored in the classroom. Menus were posted and are being stored for a minimum of 30 days. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. The outdoor play area is fenced and has enough cushioning under and around play structures. There is sufficient shade available and children bring their water bottles outside and there are also drinking fountains available. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. The carbon monoxide detector is operational (plugged in behind the teachers desk each room). All staff present have a current CPR and First Aid certification. Sign in/out sheets were reviewed and found to be current.
LPAs observed appropriate supervision in and out of the classroom. A sample of children's records were reviewed for admission’s agreements and staff records for qualifications. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com. The area near the teacher's desk is used as an isolation area for sick children. |
