25 | An informal office meeting was held at the EES David & Jillian Gilmour Early Education on March 29, 2022 at 8:37 AM. Present at the meeting are Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Pauline Beschorner, Licensing Program Analysts (LPA’s) Anastasia Flores and Jessica Rubio facility representatives; Program Director, Sara Salazar and Site Director, Courtney Gay. The purpose of the office meeting was to discuss the following: LPM Beschorner discussed the issues pertaining to the three complaints and one case management received in our office in the past six months.
1) Concerns were discussed with disclosing of the information to our agency even when it is confidential information. LPM discussed working together with Community Care Licensing when changes are being made to the facility with staffing.
2) It was discussed in regard to communication with the staffing and the children’s needs that are in the classroom be sure the teachers that enter the facilities as substitutes or filling in for a teacher are aware of the childrens behaviors if any, to assure their needs are being met.
3) It was discussed in regard to a child obtaining unexplained bruises in care, the possibility of the facility completing health checks upon entry in the childcare center. This would enhance the safety of the children, especially if there are concerns with children that are from different home environments.
4) It was discussed how often the trainings are being completed with the staff and if they are completed in person.
Ms. Salazar and Ms. Gay provided the following information during meeting:
The facility found out that there was a plan of action for the child however with the turnover in staff they were not all aware of the plan on file. The parent was called numerous times to pick up the child since the morning due to early morning behaviors but the parent never showed up. Ms. Salazar documented the calls that were made to the parent. Teacher assistant that observed the behaviors leading up to the incident with the child in December of 2021 owned up to the error that was made on that day and it has led into an improvement in the staffing with the children.
