25 | Licensing Program Analysts Joelle Redding and Elise Read, met with Director Franceska McKenzie, for the purpose of an unannounced random annual inspection. There were 18 children present with two teachers in Room 17. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesdays from 12:15 p.m. to 6 p.m.
LPAs toured the classroom. The furniture, books, and games are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. The room was a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. The facility offers afternoon snack and the menu is posted. Hand washing and toileting areas are the school bathrooms. Supervision is provided to the restroom, staff checks first to ensure they are in a safe, sanitary and in operating condition, prior to allowing children in the restroom, no more than 3 at a time. Any medications are kept in a locked area, inaccessible to children. Poisons disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play area is fully fenced with sufficient cushioning and adequate shade. The program uses the blacktop and adjacent field. No hazards were noted. Operational water fountains are used on the playground. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. LPA reviewed, sign in/out sheets, a sample of personnel records for a health screening and a sample of children's records for emergency information and a medical assessment (not for school age). All staff present have current CPR and First Aid certification. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met for Director. Assistant Malika Mahanna, was hired on 5/22/19. She has completed the SB 792 requirements and will take the AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training by 6/22/19.
