25 | On 03/02/23 at 10:15am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samantha Clenista, conducted an unannounced case management inspection. Purpose of this visit is to re-measure all indoor and outdoor play areas to obtain updated measurements as facility needs to update their playground waiver for the toddlers to share the preschool playground. Upon arrival, LPA met with Center Director, Marily Miranda. The following were present in each classroom: 9 toddlers with 2 staff in the Toddler Room, 5 children with 2 staff in Primary I Room, and 16 children with 2 staff in Primary II Room.
The following measurements are for all indoor and outdoor activity space per updated facility sketch:
- Primary I Room- 645.36 sq. ft. (preschool room)
- Primary II Room- 671.29 sq. ft. (preschool room)
- Toddler Room- 467.99 sq. ft., sufficient for 13 toddlers ages 18-36 months
- Toddler Playground- fenced in area located in front of the Toddler Room- 390 sq. ft.
- Preschool Playground (which includes 3 areas; side lunch/art tables, courtyard and main playground. These areas are currently shared with the toddlers during separate times)- 5,477.94 sq. ft.
The total square footage for all indoor play space is 1,784.64 sq. ft. which is sufficient for 50 children; 37 preschool children and 13 toddlers. The facility has been (since 11/18/2011) and currently operates with a maximum of 15 toddlers, even though the measurements that were taken today of the Toddler Room allowed no more than 13 toddlers. LPA will consult with management on how to address this discrepancy. The toddler playground that is currently in place is sufficient for 5 children at one time. The total preschool outdoor play space measured at 5,477.94 sq. ft., sufficient for 73 children at one time. An updated playground waiver shall be submitted and approved by the department to reflect the above changes.
No deficiencies observed in the areas inspected during today's visit. NOTICE OF SITE VISIT IS TO BE POSTED FOR 30 DAYS. LPA observed Director post notice of site visit. Updated sketch (LIC999) obtained during conclusion of visit. |
