32 | The access is through a pedestrian gate that walks through the area where the licensed program operates. During inspection, LPA discussed with management the layout and concern of the public access and options on how to address it. Shannon Vega, Assistant Program Manager, arrived later in the visit. LPA informed her of the Departments concern of the playgrounds being freely accessible to the public when the gates are open after school. Options of adding a fence to fence in the playground structures that the children use was discussed and will be considered, however Ms. Vega stated she will have to discuss it with her management team and other parties that might be involved (principal, city, etc.). LPA informed Director that an update of what the facility plans to do to ensure the public does not have access to the children in care during outdoor play must be submitted to LPA no later than 01/17/2023.
Children’s records were reviewed today. All required forms were on file. All children are signed in/out by a representative who uses a full legal signature and has recorded the time of day. Staff records reviewed today contain a health screening as required by the regulation. Staff have completed the mandated reporter training. This training shall be renewed every two years. All staff have immunization record indicating that they have been immunized against influenza, pertussis and measles.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice)/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm
Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. |
