25 | Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection. During this visit, there were 33 children with 6 staff. Toddlers (Room 1-3 combined on the playground): 2 teachers with 4 children. Preschool (Rooms 5-9 combined on the playground). 2 teachers with 13 children; and KPrep (Rooms 10-13 combined on the playground) 2 teachers with 15 children. Facility is within ratio and capacity and the programs are separate from each other. The facility operates Monday thru Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
LPA toured the rooms to include Room 4, the art studio. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. Medications are kept in each room, in an emergency backpack, inaccessible to children.. Bathrooms and handwashing areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. The facility does not provide any meals and children bring their own lunches and snacks. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. The outdoor play areas are fenced and have enough cushioning under and around play structures, and slides. There is sufficient shaded areas. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. The carbon monoxide detectors are operational. There are several staff present with a current CPR and First Aid certification.
Sign in/out sheets were reviewed and found to be current. There is a drive thru drop off/pick up three times a day from 8:30 to 8:50, 12:00 to12:15 and 2:30 to 2:50. Sign in/out sheets are brought by staff to the cars. LPA observed appropriate supervision in and out of the classroom. A sample of children's records were reviewed for admission’s agreements and staff records for qualifications. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com. Isolation area is the Director's office.
