On 5/4/23 at 11:10am, Licensing Program Analyst, Patrick Ma, met with Out of School Time Coordinator Davina Hale and Regional Lead Elizabeth Perez for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Facility Representatives reported the school has not provided care since June 2022 and may close.

LPA toured the facility. The rooms were clean, orderly and a comfortable temperature during this visit. Adequate ventilation and heating are available. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. All required forms were posted. Children bring their own lunch and snacks are provided by the facility. Snack menu will be posted if they reopen. Napping equipment is available. Facility was advised to ensured that there is adequate space between mats for easy passage and not to block entrances or exits.

Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Medications would be kept in an upper shelf in the Director’s office, inaccessible to children. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play area is fully fenced with a waiver to share a playground with the elementary school using it on a separate schedule. Facility Representatives was reminded, there shall be no interaction and/or commingling of the two separate programs. Age appropriate playground equipment and outdoor surfaces are in a safe condition. There are no bodies of water, firearms or ammunition on the property. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. The facility has a written disaster plan in place that meets regulatory requirement. The facility does not transport children.
If the facility reopens, facility representatives were reminded there needs to be at least one staff present with current CPR and First Aid certification and all staff need to have a current Mandated Reporter Training Certificate on file which is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com.
