On 5/28/2021 at 9:00am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Selina Siao conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection for the purpose of capacity increase. Upon arrival, LPA Siao met with Director Gail Filkins to measure the new areas. No children are in care today as it's the facility’s staff development day.

This facility is currently licensed to care for 12 children in the Purple Penguin’s and Blue Dolphins classrooms with a total of 494 square feet. Licensee submitted an application to request for capacity of 41 children by adding the Golden Lions Classroom areas. A fire clearance was granted for the requested capacity on 05/05/2021.

The new areas for the Golden Lions Class were measured and it measured to be 920.38 square feet. The combined space for the current licensed area and the new areas is 1414.38 square feet which is sufficient for 40 children. There is a total of 3 sinks and 4 toilets available for children.

There is a large playground in the rear of the building were remeasured to be 2561.51 square feet which is sufficient for 34 children. The connected preschool playground located next door at 1955 Chicago Street remeasured to be 1632.24 square feet which is sufficient for 21 children. The preschool children will have access to both preschool playgrounds.

Facility appears to be in substantial compliance. The furniture and equipment will move from the current licensed classroom located at 1955 Chicago Street to the new areas. Pictures of the areas will be submitted to Analyst prior to granting the capacity increase to care for 40 children.

Facility was advised to post the Notice of Site Visit and that failure to keep it posted will result in $100 civil penalty.

Analyst read the report to licensee during the tele-inspection. A copy of the report will be e-mailed to the Director and she was advised that acknowledgement of the receipt of the report is to be received within twenty-four hours.
