25 | On 5/11/22 LPA (Licensing Program Analyst) Annette Sutherland and LPM (Licensing Program Manager Monica Cuddy met with the director for case management inspection to evaluate proposed changes to the playground. Present were 16 children with 2 staff members in room 101.
Licensee would like to remove fencing from preschool playground and use that space, the climber space and the black top area. All of these areas are surrounded by a 4 foot fence . There are 2 canopies which provide shade. Drinking water will be brought outside when children are outdoors. Climbing structure includes a section for older children. Preschool children are limited to using the age appropriate section. Staff are to provide constant visual supervision when children are using the climber to prevent use of the higher areas. There is a grassy area behind the climber which will be off limits. This area will be inaccessible by staff supervision.
Total proposed area to be used measures approximately 18,720 sq ft which is enough space for 249 children. The storage sheds on the playground should remain inaccessible to children at all times.
Licensee will request to update current playground waiver to include the entire black top area and climber area. Waiver request should mention that children will be supervised at all times. That preschool children will only use the playground when it is not in use by the the rest of the school . It will also mention how the 2 stairways to the main school will be inaccessible to children. All gates to the parking lot will remain closed when children are outdoors. Licensee will also provide a recess schedule and outdoor facility sketch. Licensee understands that changes may not take place until the waiver is approved.
No deficiencies are cited. Exit interview was conducted. LPA provided notice of site visit and observed being posted. |
