On 8/31/21 at 10:50 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, met with Director Samantha Aguirre for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. There were 29 infants present with 8 staff in two rooms. Room 2 (Toddler Room) 16 infants ages 12-24 mo. w/ 4 teachers and Room 3: 13 infants w/2 teachers and 2 Aides. Room #1 was closed due to a Covid exposure until 9/9/21. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

LPA toured the rooms. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All foods/beverages are labeled/dated and stored per regulation in the infant room refrigerator. Food service for older infants is brought in by Top Notch. There is a microwave for warming lunch and the menu is posted. Infant bedding/ napping equipment is sufficient and meets regulatory requirements. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. All storage containers or trash cans containing solid waste have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. Infant changing tables have padded, washable vinyl at least one inch thick with sides raised at least 3 inches, per regulation and are within arm’s reach of a sink. There are several staff present with current CPR and First Aid certification. Any medications are kept in a labeled box in the classrooms, inaccessible to children. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. The carbon monoxide detector is operational in each room. LPA reviewed, sign in/out sheets (Bright Wheel electronic), a sample of personnel records for educational qualifications and a sample of children's records for emergency information and medical assessments. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com. Safe Sleep was discussed to include updated regulations, requirements and documents. . Infant Needs and Services plans were current and on file for all infants. LPA will email a sample sleep log and Form LIC 9227, Individual Sleeping plan to Director at sathevine@gmail.com.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Based on observation and interview with Director, it was determined that although staff was physically present in the napping area at all times an infant was sleeping, they were unaware that 15 minute checks were to be documented.
