25 | On 03/05/2024 at 2:40pm, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Selina Siao and Gerald Poindexter conducted an unannounced case management inspection for the purpose of capacity increase. Upon arrival, LPAs Siao and Poindexter met with Director Samantha Aguirre and conducted a census count of the children in care. The following ratios were observed: Classroom #2 had 10 infants supervised by 3 staff members, classroom #1 (6wks to 8 months) had 15 infants supervised by 5 staff members member and there were 21 toddlers (12-24 months) from classroom #3 at the playground supervised by 5 staff members. Appropriate staffing ratio were observed during the inspection. Director stated that the children are in care Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 5:30pm.
This facility is currently licensed for 58 children in classrooms #1, #2 and #3. Licensee representative submitted a capacity increase application to add classroom #4 by increasing their capacity to 74 children. Classroom #4 was inspected and measured at 477.66 square feet. The room is equipped with age-appropriate equipment, furniture, supplies and materials for older infants ages 12-24 months. The classroom has a changing table that is within reach of a sink. There is another sink that is in the classroom available for staff to use for food preparation. The classroom also has a sink and toilet available for staff members to use. Water dispenser or water pitcher will be placed in the classroom and be available for children. Direct visual observation is required when children are in care. The facility has a total of 6 sinks available for children to use.
The playground was previously measured at 2519.84 square feet, which is sufficient for 33 children. The facility has an outdoor playground waiver that allows no more than 33 children to be at the playground at one time and the waiver was granted on Oct 6, 2020.
Facility appears to be in substantial compliance, the fire clearance of 74 children was granted on 10/24/2023. A capacity increase of 66 children will be granted upon final review of the facility's file. Notice of site visit shall remain posted for 30 days. |
