25 | On 12/11/23 at 2:30 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Adrian Mangina conducted an announced Case Management inspection for the purpose of adding a temporary room to the license. During the visit, LPA met with Site Director, Sydney Lara, and Association Program Specialist , Lucelyna Godwin. This facility requested to add a temporary classroom (room 1) to licensed areas of the facility with no change incapacity, due to school-wide renovations. Facility currently serves 65 school-aged children TK through 12 years old in the Cafeteria. A tour of the facility was conducted. This school-age program is located on the Barnard Elementary School Site. There were 31 children in care present at the facility at time of inspection with two teachers and one aide supervising. A fire clearance was granted on 12/5/23 and received on 12/6/23.
LPA inspected Room #1, which will be used as an additional room for use during inclement weather and for quieter activities. The classroom is currently used as an elementary school classroom during the day. Per Health and Safety Code Sections 1596.806(a), this room is exempt from square footage, fencing, outdoor activity space, toilet and isolation requirements. Room 1 is equipped with tables, chairs and age-appropriate supplies and equipment. Cleaning supplies and other hazardous items are inaccessible to children through latches, locks and/or placed on high surfaces. There is a working smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector in the room. There are two restrooms and two sinks in the classroom for the children to use, in addition to there are two gendered bathrooms containing 4 additional sinks, 4 stalls and 3 urinals. Children will be escorted to the two other gendered restrooms located on the other side of campus near the front office. There is a separate staff restroom. Drinking water is readily accessible via water fountains that are located in the classroom or a jug of filtered water in the cafeteria. The children will utilize these water fountains to refill their water bottles that they bring from home. Food preparation for snacks only is completed in the cafeteria. The children eat snacks outside at the picnic tables. The playground to be used is the elementary school playground previously licensed, which has age-appropriate play equipment. There
