Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection. During this visit, there were 8 infants with 4 staff as follows: Room 1: 2 infants with a teacher and an Aide; Room 2: 3 infants with a teacher; Room 3: 3 toddlers with a teacher. Room 4 was closed today due to low numbers for the holidays. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

LPA toured the rooms. The furniture and toys, both inside and out, are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. All rooms have adequate heating, lighting and ventilation, are clean and orderly, and are free of hazards. Infant changing tables are equipped per regulation. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting covers and are in good repair. All foods/beverages are labeled/dated and stored per regulation in the infant room refrigerator. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided for older infants. Food service area consists of a kitchen which is clean and free of hazards, with food stored per regulation.and the menu is posted. Menus are being stored for 30 days. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. The outdoor play area is fenced, has sufficient cushioning and adequate shade and is separate from the preschool playground. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. There are several staff present with a current CPR and First Aid certification. Sign in/outs are done electronically using the ProCare system with paper back up in case of emergency. Infant Needs and Services Plans were on file for all infants. Personnel records were reviewed for educational qualifications. A sample of children’s records were reviewed for emergency information and a medical assessment. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com. SIDS was discussed (Child Care Providers Guide to Safe Sleep Handout provided). Isolation area is the Director's office. Effects of Lead Exposure Handout provided for dissemination to parents/guardians.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual – Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice/ (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm. There is an approved IMS Pla on file and services were in place today. LPA discussed the storage of Incidental Medical Services medications, such as Epi Pens and Inhaled Medications be kept in the child's classroom. There is an emergency backpack that can be placed out of reach and transported on to the playground so the medication is accessible at all times to the staff, but inaccessible to the children.
