25 | Licensing Program Analysts, Joelle Redding and Elizabeth Rivera, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection. During this visit there were 37 children with five teachers. At the time of this visit, all children were in the chapel practicing for their Christmas recital. When in the classroom there are two teachers in the 2's room (Room 12), and one teacher in each of the subsequent rooms (4, 6 and 10 - capacity does not exceed 12 in these rooms) Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday 6:30 p.m. 5:30 p.m.
LPA's toured the rooms. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. Medications are kept in a storage closet, centrally located and inaccessible to children. Bathrooms and handwashing areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Breakfast and p.m. snack are served and children bring their own lunches. Snacks are stored in each room and storage meets regulation requirements. Breakfast/snack menus were posted and are being stored for a minimum of 30 days. LPA provided a handout on AB 2084, Healthy Beverages in child care. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. The outdoor play area is fenced and has cushioning around the play strucutre. Sufficient shade is present. Water bottles are brought outdoors. LPA suggested additional padding at the bottom of the play structure slides for added protection as the current padding tends to get firmer over time. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. The carbon monoxide detector is operational, built into the fire alarm system. There are several staff present with a current CPR and First Aid certification. Sign in/out sheets were reviewed. The facility uses electronic sign in/out with paper backup. LPA's observed appropriate supervision in and out of the classroom. The last emergency drill was conducted on 10/28/19. A sample of children's records were reviewed for admission’s agreements and staff records for qualifications. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: |
