25 | On 9/30/21 at 9:20 a.m., Licensing Program Analysts, Joelle Redding and Leandra Dolliole, met with Director in Training Gloria Hughes for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Director Bree Zuelzke was on vacation today. There were 33 children present with four teachers and two floaters as follows: Room #4: 10 children with one teacher, Room #6: 10 children with one teacher; Room #8: 10 children with one teacher, and Room #12: 5 children with one teacher. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
LPA toured the facility. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. There is a food storage area in the staff room which is clean and sanitary with all snacks stored properly, per regulation. Menus are posted. Children bring their own lunches. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Medications are kept centrally located, yet readily available, in the staff lounge, inaccessible to children. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play area is fully fenced with sufficient cushioning and adequate shade. Playground equipment and outdoor surfaces are in a safe condition. Portable water is used outdoors. There are no bodies of water, firearms or ammunition on the property. The carbon monoxide detector is operational, mounted in the hallway near the front desk. LPA reviewed, sign in/out sheets, a sample of personnel records for a health screening and on-the-job training. There is at least one staff present with current CPR and First Aid certification. SB 792 (staff immunizations) and AB 1207 (Mandated Reporter Training) requirements have been met. Facility is reminded the Mandated Reporter Training is to be retaken every two years and can be accessed at the following website: www.mandatedreporterca.com. A sample of children's records were reviewed for emergency information and a medical assessment. |
