25 | An unannounced case management inspection was conducted today by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samantha Salunga. Purpose of this visit is to inspect Room #12 to be added to this license (376701125) as part of the facility’s Toddler Option Component. This facility is currently licensed for 36 infants ages 3-24 months in Room #1 & #2 and toddler option children (ages 18-36 months) in Room #3. Room #12 is currently licensed as a toddler classroom under the preschool component. Facility has requested an increase of capacity from having 36 children to 48 children. Fire clearance was granted on 08/20/2019, allowing the facility to serve 24 infants (ages 2-24 months) in Rooms #1 and #2, and 24 toddlers (ages 18-36 months) in Rooms #3 and Room #12.
Upon today’s arrival, LPA met with Director, Denise Neifeld. There were 16 children with a total of 8 staff members. Appropriate ratio and capacity were observed. LPA inspected Room #12 during time of inspection. Room #12 was previously measured on 12/04/2018 and measured a total of 506 sq. ft. which can accommodate the additional 12 toddlers that facility is requesting. The room has age appropriate equipment, changing table within arms reach and furnishings to accommodate the 12 toddlers. There are no walkers, bouncy seats, exersaucers or jumpers in the room. All infants including those napping in cribs are under visual observation at all times. Cleaning supplies are locked and are inaccessible to children. Solid waste storage vessels, including moveable bins, have tight-fitting covers on, and are in good repair.
Facility has two play areas for the infant/toddler children; one big playground and one smaller playground. Both outdoor play areas are fully fenced. Playground equipment is observed in good condition and age appropriate. The bigger playground measures at 1,338 sq. ft. (sufficient for 17 children) and the smaller playground measures at 677 sq. ft. (sufficient for 9 children). Due to the square footage of the outdoor play area being less than the requested total capacity, a waiver to share the playground at scheduled times in the AM and PM must be submitted to the department for approval prior to licensure. |
