25 | On 10/28/20 at 2:30pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane arrived at the facility to conduct a case management inspection for the purpose of an increase of capacity. LPA met with owner, Darren Solomon and was led on a tour of the facility. This preschool program currently operates in classrooms 1 and 2 with a capacity of 36 and the toddler option operates in room 3 with a capacity of 12 and the preschool program is requesting a capacity increase of 84 with additional new room 4. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
The total measurements for the additional classroom 4 is 1972.43 square feet is sufficient to accommodate 56 preschool children.
The total outdoor square footage calculation is 4016.65 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 53 children, but is not sufficient for the requested capacity of 84 children. The owner submitted an outdoor play area waiver request and classroom use schedule due to the outdoor area not having sufficient space. There is an existing waiver for the preschool program to share the outdoor play area with the toddler option program on a scheduled basis. The outdoor play area is located on the east side of the facility’s entrance and consists of a large grass area with a canopy for shade. Equipment includes: a water table, sand box, play kitchenette, tricycles and tricycle area and children's benches. The outdoor play area is surrounded by a fence. Children have access to water outdoors via water dispensers and children bring refillable water bottles from home. Proper supervision and placement of staff on the play yard was advised to ensure the safety of children at all times.
Classrooms are equipped with age appropriate furniture and napping mats with tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other materials for the children. There is a total of 6 toilets and 7 sinks available for the children's use, which is sufficient to accommodate the new requested capacity of 84 children. The children shall be escorted and supervised to and from the bathroom. The staff restroom is located in the hallway near room 4 and is equipped with 1 toilet and 1 sink, is kept inaccessible, and will be used as an isolation restroom for children who are ill. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via water dispensers and children bring refillable water bottles from home.
