On 07/07/2022 at 3:27 PM, LPA Dana Stevens conducted an unannounced complaint inspection for the purpose of delivering findings on the above allegations. LPA met with Licensee, Peter Cohen. There were 51 children present with 10 stafff.

On 05/20/2022 San Diego Regional Childcare Offices, received a complaint with the following allegations:
1) Day care children are Inappropriately disciplined.
2) Staff speaks inappropriately to day care children.

During investigation, all staff interviewed stated that children who do not nap or will not read quietly on their mats during nap time are placed in the "cozy corner" an area on the side of the classroom near the bookshelves, where the child can sit and easily access books to read quietly during nap time while the other children sleep. All staff interviewed denied withholding snacks, stating that all children are "verbally encouraged" to eat their main dish first and save the snack or sweet treat for last or for their afternoon snack. All staff stated food is never withheld as punishment. All staff interviewed stated that if a child's behavior becomes disruptive the child is taken aside by an extra staff member, to have a "one-on-one" conversation about how the child can behave differently so that they can return to the group activity. All staff denied ever using "shaming" language, stating they focus on the behavior.

Throughout the investigation LPA interviewed Licensee, school staff, daycare children, daycare parents and reviewed facility records and parent handbook. Based on conflicting information obtained in confidential interviews the above allegations are deemed Unsubstantiated.
