25 | On 9/14/21 at 10:30 a.m., Licensing Program Analysts, Joelle Redding and Annette Sutherland, met with Director Louann Kirby for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. There were 11 children present with 3 teachers in the preschool room. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m to 3:30 p.m.
LPAs toured the facility. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Room was a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. There is a kitchen which is clean and sanitary, per regulation. Meals are prepared in the school cafeteria and brought over for serving. Menus are posted. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Medications are kept in the staff room, inaccessible to children. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play area is fully fenced with sufficient cushioning and adequate shade. Playground equipment and outdoor surfaces are in a safe condition No hazards were noted. Portable water is used outdoors. There are no bodies of water, firearms or ammunition on the property. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. The school had a fire alarm go off during this visit. LPAs viewed the facility's evacuation procedure which went smoothly with staff accounting for each child in and out of the building and the rooms.
LPAs reviewed, sign in/out sheets, a sample of children's records for emergency information and a medical assessment. Children are evaluated upon entry and monitored throughout the day for signs of illness. The isolation are for ill children awaiting pick up is the Director's office. Staff files are maintained at the District office and, despite Director's request, the District would not provide these on site for review today and a subsequent deficiency will be cited. There is at least one staff present with current pediatric first aid/CPR certification. |
