25 | On 02/10/21 at 10:00 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Rajani Goudreau arrived at the facility to conduct a Case Management – Licensee Initiated inspection. Upon arrival LPA, met with Chief Operations Officer (COO), Ebony B. James and proceeded to tour the facility. There were 23 children in care with four staff members at time of visit. The facility is within ratio/capacity limitations. LPA verified all staff present in the facility are cleared and associated to the facility. The facility is requesting a capacity increase of 74 preschoolers; ages 2 through 5 years old and adding the Explores and investigators room to the license in order to accommodate the requested capacity. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The following rooms were inspected and measured during the visit and they measure the following:
- Voyagers Room measured a total of 676.61 square feet
- Steam Room measured a total of 195.73 square feet
- Library measured a total of 156.99 square feet
- Explores and Investigators Room measured a total of 1,487.53 square feet
The total indoor space for the rooms measured a total of 2,516. 85 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate 71 children at one time. The Steam room and the library are located in the Voyagers room. The classrooms are equipped with appropriate furniture, napping equipment, including cots, tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other materials for the children. The Voyagers room has two sinks/two toilets and the Explores and Investigators room has four sinks and four toilets for the children's exclusive use, which is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity. LPA informed COO children are to be escorted and supervised by staff to and from the restrooms and direct visual observation is required at all times. Drinking water is available in the rooms through the use of refillable water pitchers and water bottles brought from home. The Director's office is used as an isolation area for ill children, if needed. The staff restroom is designated as the isolation restroom for ill children, which consist of one toilet and one sink.There is a carbon monoxide detector in the facility and a first aid kit with required supplies.
