25 | On 9/15/21 at 11:15 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, met with Director Angela Carroll for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. There were 29 children present with 14 staff, two floaters and the Director as follows: Room 1A: 4 children and two teaches; Room 1B: 5 children with two teachers; Room 1C: not in use today; Room 2: 5 children with two teachers; Room 3A: 3 children with two teachers; Room 3B: 4 children with two teachers; Room 3C: 4 children with two teachers; and Room: 4: 4 children with two teachers. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
LPA toured the facility. The furniture, books, games and toys are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Rooms were a comfortable temperature during this visit. No hazards were noted. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. There is a kitchen which is clean and sanitary with all food stored properly, per regulation. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided by El Cajon School District and delivered. Warmers are present in the kitchen. Menus are posted. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Medications are kept in each room, in the emergency bag, inaccessible to children. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play area is fully fenced with sufficient cushioning and adequate shade. There is an approved playground waiver in place for no more than 34 children outside at a time. The requirements of this waiver were in place today with 11 children on the playground. Playground equipment and outdoor surfaces are in a safe condition No hazards were noted. Portable water is used outdoors. There are no bodies of water, firearms or ammunition on the property. The carbon monoxide detector is wired into the fire alarm system and reports directly to the Fire Department. LPA reviewed, sign in/out sheets, a sample of personnel records for a health screening and on-the-job training. HR keeps immunization information and sent the documentation over for LPAs review during this visit. A sample of children's records for emergency information and a medical assessment. All children between 18 and 24 months had Needs and Services plans on file. |
