25 | On 11/27/23 at 10am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Samantha Clenista conducted an unannounced case management site inspection. Upon arrival, LPA met with Center Director, Marla Martin. All indoor and outdoor activity space utilized for the children were inspected today. Purpose of this visit is to address facility’s request to decrease their preschool licensed capacity from having 125 children to 102 children. Facility is currently licensed to care for 24 toddlers ages 18-36 months in Room 2 and 101 preschool children in Rooms 3-6, including up to 12 school age children in Room 6. Facility has removed Room 3 from their preschool indoor activity space and added it to their infant license. Due to this change, facility can no longer care for school-aged children.
Fire clearance was granted on 11/14/23 to care for 28 toddlers in Room #2 and 74 preschools (ages 2-K) in Room 4A, 4B, 5 and 6. LPA remeasured Room #3 and took the square footage out of the total square footage of what previously was for preschool children. The facility can only care for up to 69 preschool children in Rooms 4A, 4B, 5 and 6. Room #3 also had 2 sinks and 2 toilets, which now has to be taken out from the preschool license, which makes a total of 10 sinks and 10 toilets available for the toddler/preschool children.
Facility has an approved waiver to share the outdoor playground with all programs (infant, toddlers and preschool) at different times. LPA will consult with management to see if an updated waiver is needed prior to issuing an updated license. The areas used for the infant, toddler and preschool programs were observed to be separate from one another indoors. LPA informed Director that the programs shall never commingle at any given time and that staff are required to maintain direct visual supervision of the children at all times during indoor and outdoor play. |
